Reggie Sanders has played professionally with the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, and was a member of the 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks World Series Champions. With the Cardinals in 2005, Sanders had a breakout of sorts during the 2005 National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. In a three-game sweep of the Padres, Sanders hit 10 RBIs, a new record for a division series. On June 10, 2006 as a member of the Kansas City Royals, Reggie hit his 300th HR. This made him only the fifth member of Major League Baseball's 300-300 club, as he had stolen the 300th base of his career on May 1, 2006.. He is the only player in MLB history to hit 20 or more home runs in one season for six different teams.
This 34 inch, 32 ounce Louisville Slugger model R205 was manufactured by Hillerich & Bradsby in 2001 for use by Reggie Sanders, and use it he did – hitting 33 home runs on his way to a World Championship with the Diamondbacks that season. This uncracked bat shows heavy use, with ball marks and hit marks present above the barrel label, and swelling on the back. Several cleat marks appear near the center label. Reggie Sanders has signed this bat in silver marker on the sweet spot, adding his uniform number 16 to the autograph. The signature has been affected by the finish of the bat to a small degree (see photo.) Additionally, Sanders has added a notation to the right of the barrel label as follows:
"30 HRs 2001"
The inscription correctly dates the bat to 2001, however Sanders had hit 33 home runs by the end of the season. Is it possible that he used this bat to hit his 30th home run of 2001, inscribed it, and given this uncracked bat away? Who knows? Regardless, this bat is a solid addition to any collection as it was used during the pinnacle of this great athlete's career – a World Championship season.View Lot Detail page
