Jeff Lahti's 1982 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Player's Trophy

The 1982 World Series matched the Milwaukee Brewers against the St. Louis Cardinals, highlighted by future Hall of Famers Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Ozzie Smith and Bruce Sutter. The Cardinals defeated the Brewers as this historic series went the full 7 games. In addition to receiving the customary World Championship ring, Cardinals players also received smaller versions of the team's World Championship trophy. The trophy offered in this auction was presented to rookie relief pitcher Jeff Lahti in 1983. Lahti appeared in 33 regular season and 2 World Series games in 1982. Upon receiving this trophy, Lahti gifted it to his agent. The trophy remained in his agent's collection for many years, until he recently passed away. The trophy is accompanied by the letter from the family of Lahti's agent. On a scale of 1-10, this trophy would rate a 7 in terms of overall condition. As is common with these trophies, the inner brass ring and baseball have tarnished. There is also some minor corrosion to the outer nameplate (on the side). As is also common to these trophies, some of the team name decals on the flags are also faded. Despite these minor condition problems, this trophy displays very nicely. 1982 Cardinals World Series players trophies are extremely scarce. Trophy stands approximately 12" tall and weighs approximately 6 pounds. The centerpiece of any serious Cardinals collection. Consigned by Rob Steinmetz.View Lot Detail page
