Ben Wade 1954 Home Brooklyn Dodgers Game Worn Uniform (From Ben Wade Estate)

Ben Wade was a right-handed pitcher who played for the Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Dodgers, and Pittsburgh Pirates from 1948 until 1955. In his five season career, he posted a 19-17 record with 235 strikeouts and a 4.34 ERA. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1953 World Series against the New York Yankees.

This Brooklyn Dodgers home ensemble was worn by relief specialist Ben Wade during the 1954 season. The journeyman hurler pitched for four different teams over a five-year big league career. During the '54 campaign, the North Carolina-born right-hander logged his nineteenth and final career win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 5.
The uniform offered is his last with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Angled across the front of the jersey is the royal blue felt "Dodgers" sewn on in script style felt. Below should be the red felt number "56" that has been removed. On back is the player replacement number "56" single stitched in royal blue felt. On the front left tail is "B Wade" in royal blue chain stitch. Inside the front tail is the wash tag and the "1954 SET 1" flag tag. Inside the collar is the "Rawlings" size 46 tag. The flannel pants feature a four-button fly, two cotton-lined back pockets and six belt loops. Within the waist line, a "Rawlings" manufacturer's label is accompanied by a wash instructions tag, with a size "40" tag. Below is the "1954 SET 1" flag tag with a royal blue chain stitched "EXTRA" felt tag. Heavy wash and usage wear throughout the uniform, with number replacement on the jersey.
The jersey has been graded an A5 by Mears with a 10 point base grade and minus two points for number change and minus three points for missing numbers on the front. View Lot Detail page
