Dave Kingman 1983-85 Louisville Slugger Professional Model Used, Autographed Bat

David Kingman, nicknamed "Kong" and "Sky King", had a great career with the seven teams he played with, including the Mets and Yankees. In his 16-season career, Dave Kingman batted .236, with 442 home runs, 1210 runs batted in, 901 runs scored, 1575 hits, 240 doubles, 25 triples and 85 stolen bases in 1941 games played. He also struck out 1,816 times, then the 4th-highest total in history. He was named to the National League All-Star team three times (1976-1979-1980). He captured two home run titles, in 1979 and 1982, displaying the power that caused Mets broadcaster (and Hall of Famer) Ralph Kiner to remark, "Kingman can hit them out of any park, including Yellowstone."

This outstanding Louisville Slugger model S2 bat measures 35.5 inches in length and weighs approximately 33 ounces. The bat is labeled in a manner consistent with manufacture during the 1983-1985 labeling period, however the presence of Kingman's uniform number 10 in faded vintage marker on the knob indicates use specifically during the 1984 and/or 1985 seasons as a member of the Oakland A's. The bat has a natural blonde finish, and matches Kingman's personal H & B records for multiple orders of bats shipped to Kingman during those two seasons. This bat displays moderate-to- heavy use and exhibits numerous ball marks, hit marks and rack marks on the barrel. This bat has a slight, non-displaced crack on the handle approximately six inches from the knob, which does not affect the display quality of this bat at all --- the display quality of this bat is outstanding.

Dave Kingman has signed this bat in black Sharpie on the sweet spot, adding the notation "game used." The signature is approximately 3.5 inches in length and rates a solid grade of "10 out of 10." This is a perfect example of a bat used by Dave Kingman toward the end of his career as a member of the Oakland A's, during a two year period when he hit a total of 65 home runs. This bat is sourced from Dave Kingman's personal collection and includes a signed Letter of Authenticity from him.
