Jorge Posada is considered one of the great New York Yankees catchers alongside of Bill Dickey, Yogi Berra, Elston Howard, and Thurman Munson. He is considered to be one of the best catchers in the Majors. He was drafted by the Yankees in the 24th round of the 1990 amateur draft, and made his major league debut in 1995. Following his career year in 2007 which saw a .338 batting average backed up with 20 home runs, injuries limited the five-time All Star to just 168 plate appearances in 2008. Posada was a member of the Yankee World Championship teams in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000.
This Rawlings PRO-JP20 glove was used by Jorge Posada during the 2007 season. Posada's name and number are embroidered in yellow script above the oval Rawlings logo. There is also a custom index finger pad installed inside the glove, which exhibits tremendous evidence of wear (there is also a small tear in this area from extensive use). The glove is very well broken in, and was likely Posada's primary glove during the 2007 season. Posada has signed the glove on the thumb in silver, and added a "Game Used 07" inscription. This glove is accompanied by one of Posada's worn #20 custom wristbands. Our consignor purchased this glove in an auction package through Posada's foundation this year, although no LOA was provided. There have been several Posada gloves introduced to the market over the last several years, but few can be compared to this example in terms of overall use and direct player provenance.View Lot Detail page
