Mid-19th Century 'Lemon Peel' Style Hand-Stitched Baseball

Exceptional quality vintage sphere dating from the game's earliest days. Reminiscent of the infamous "Doubleday Ball" at the Baseball Hall of Fame, which was once believed to have been used by the alleged "father" of baseball, Abner Doubleday. This ball is in remarkably good condition, with all the stitching still relatively tight – and only two minor tears to the leather hide. This ball displays beautifully, and is arguably one of the nicest early lemon peel balls in the hobby. View Lot Detail page
