There is little doubt that Roger Clemens name will be brought up when discussing the greatest pitchers in MLB history. In 2006, a poll of 32 ESPN analysts named Clemens the greatest living pitcher. Clemens debuted in the majors in 1984 with the Boston Red Sox where he played 13 consecutive seasons, more than half of his career. In 1997, he moved to Canada to pitch for the Toronto Blue Jays for two seasons. In both of those years, Clemens won the pitching triple crown (leading the league in wins, ERA, and strikeouts) and the Cy Young Award.
He was traded to the New York Yankees for the 1999 season, where he captured his first World Series ring. In 2003, he reached his 300th win and 4,000th strikeout in the same game. Clemens is one of only four pitchers to have more than 4,000 strikeouts in their career (along with Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, and Steve Carlton). Clemens played three seasons with the Houston Astros, where he won his seventh Cy Young Award (two more than any other pitcher in MLB history). He rejoined the New York Yankees during the 2007 season.

Tagged on the tail with a Wilson wash tag, a size 48 flag tag, and a chain-stitched "87" swatch tag (indicative of the year 1987). 75th Anniversary of Fenway Park patch affixed to the left sleeve. Jersey displays moderate evidence of game use, primarily in the form of wash wear on the tagging, logo, and numbers. Some yellowing from perspiration is apparent in white cotton/linen liner that runs around the collar of the jersey.
Pants are tagged in the waistband with a "21 29" chain-stitched strip tag (indicative of Clemens uniform number and inseam), a paper fiber Wilson size/wash tag, and a second chain-stitched swatch tag that reads "88" (indicative of the year 1988).
