David Wright debuted with the New York Mets on July 21, 2004 and has been the club's starting third baseman ever since. An All Star selection in 2006 and 2007, Wright is on course to becoming one of the Mets' all-time fan favorites. In 2006 he was one of the club's top three hitters in all offensive categories. In 2007 he had a 26-game hitting streak and joined the 30 – 30 club with 30 home runs and 34 stolen bases. In 2008 Wright picked up where he left off as, on Opening Day, he began the year with two doubles, including a bases-clearing double, in finishing 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs in the Mets' Opening Day defeat of the Marlins, 7-2. Baseball guru Bill James tabbed Wright as one of the "two or three best young players in baseball."
This 34 inch, 31.5 ounce Marucci bat (consistent with the manufacturer's stamping on the knob) was manufactured in 2007 and used by Wright until broken on September 17, 2007 in a 12-4 Mets loss to the Washington Nationals in which Wright went 1 for 4 and scored a run. This white finished Marucci Pro Model DW5 bat features Wright's name on the barrel. His uniform number 5 appears stamped on the knob and on the barrel end in black marker. Wear is evidenced on the handle, with a moderate amount of pine tar and stick has been applied to this bat. Use includes ball marks and hit marks mainly appearing at and above the barrel label. This bat has sustained a crack appearing approximately 11 inches from the knob. The crack appears in a 3 inch area at that location, and appears to have been repaired in that area, with two very small pieces of wood missing which do not detract significantly from the display of the bat. The crack itself is non-displaced. This bat is sourced from Steiner Sports, and bears both the Steiner hologram #17142 and the MLB hologram #560885BB.
This is a great chance to obtain a great looking game used bat from one of baseball's young superstars, David Wright. For you Nationals' fans, this bat came from the game in which Nats pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo posted his first Major League win.View Lot Detail page
