Vance Law had a fourteen-year professional career, with ten of those years in the major leagues, mostly as a second baseman and third baseman. He was a regular on the 1983 Chicago White Sox who won the division, as well as the 1989 Chicago Cubs who also won a division title. Law was an All-Star in 1988 as a member of the Cubs. He hit his only career grand slam on August 15, 1987 as a member of the Montreal Expos against the Pittsburgh Pirates – a walk-off grand slam. The son of former Major League pitcher Vern Law, he pitched at the end of 7 blowouts in his career. He pitched 8 innings total and did not give up a home run. His career ERA was 3.38. Over the course of his career he also played with the Pirates, Expos, and A's. Following his retirement from the majors, Law became a successful high school and college coach. Law has been at the helm of the Brigham Young University baseball team in Provo, UT since 2000. He was the 2001 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year.
