    Re: Short term jerseys

I think this article sums it all up. According to this author, there is no team worse at trading than the NY Mets. He even provides statistical evidence, and of course references some of the classics...

Nolan Ryan and others for Jim Fregosi...
    Amos Otis for Joey Foy...
Jeff Kent and Vizcaino for Baerga...
Singleton, Foli and Jorgansen for Staub.

He goes on to graph the teams from best to worst, and the Mets are so far below the statistical average, they don't even appear on the graph.

By using Win Shares to evaluate every trade in baseball history, we’ve determined which teams have the best and worst trading records of the expansion era. This is just the first in a series of…

    Enjoy!!

In 1992 Mets traded David Cone for Jeff Kent a future HOFer and then in 1996 sent Kent to the Indians for an aging Carlos Barega
    and Alvaro Espinoza!

That Dave Cone for Ed Hearn trade is the worst trade in the history of baseball. Ed Hearn was a completely worthless backup catcher with bad knees who barely saw the field of play after the trade (no offense if you collect him), and Cone went on to win Cy Young's win 20 games, etc... I'm still extremely bitter about that as a Royals fan.

This is Ed Hearn's jersey from 1985. Ed did not make the team in 1985 but he may have been called up later in year but never played.

Here's Ed Hearn's game issued 1987 Road jersey which he never got to use because he was traded in March 87 for David Cone to the Royals.

Here's one from my collection... a 1982 baby blue Texas Rangers Ron Darling jersey... Made for Ronnie for the start of his rookie season in the lone star state... but he was traded to the Mets before he was able to throw his first pitch as a Ranger.

Not sure if it qualifies, so I'll provide an alternate...

1987 Mets road John Candelaria jersey. The "Candy Man" pitched a grand total of 6.1 innings on the road for the Mets in Sept. 1987 (2 games).
