ABC Dots

So I've looked through several old threads but can't find the one that explained how to read the dots on the helmets. I know I asked a form member about my helmet before, but can't remember was year they said it was from. But does anyone know how to read the dot system for ABC helmets from the mid 1980's. Thanks

I have canseco helmet . it is same number 「6789」
canseco helmet photomatched 1990.
My gut feeling is that number is about '89 '90...

I believe it is when it was manufactured, but I don't know exactly how to decipher it. Maybe a helmet expert can help out.

Thanks Skip. Yea, I figured that wasn't a 70s helmet. Also, I don't think Griffey used a flapless helmet. I'll do some more searching, but I have pictures of him, even the 70s, wearing one flap helmets.

Correction....Greg. Although I'm still not a believer in that ebay Griffey, there's a possibility that he used it. I completely forgot that he played with them again from '88 - '90.

Greg, I believe it was around 1990, possibly as early as '89 or '88. I'm not 100% sure. I am 100% sure that the Ken Griffey Sr. Reds helmet on ebay right now was not used by Griffey (in case that's why you were asking ).

If an ABC helmet has the ABC STICKER on the back of it, what's the first year they started using stickers on their helmets? Thanks for the help.

I was finally able to get a decent pic of the wheel. Hope it shows up okay. Thank you, momen55, and anyone else, who can help identify the date of this helmet.

post a pic. from all the helmets i have owned and own, ABC did away with the pie wheel sometime between 89-90. i have seen helmets issued for the 90 season with the new date wheel, but ABC was still embossed on the back.
