Now by looking at it, my "M" (looking in person) looks exact to that photo it has fraying in the same end, and the both 44 are perfect like mine. Mr deputy, do you have pictures of your jersey? This is really interesting and the connection of the "e" looks identical to find because both have the blue strand in the white.
The top of the M on yours, more specifically the second arch of the M - the white part of the M crosses the blue pinstripe and the orange part totally crosses the pinstripe. My jersey meets the blue pinstripe exactly like the photo shows (at least to my eye anyway )
If I remember correctly, set E stands for "extra"...a blank jersey that can be pressed into service...I could be wrong about that though.
The reason I believe mine was the one in the pic was that in that series, Millidge slid on his stomach across the numbers. You can see dirt stains on some other photos. Those numbers on my jersey have loose threads where he slid.
We probably won't unless if I can find Hi-res photos. The jersey in the picture was worn in late July and being mine is a set 2 leads me to believe it is possible. I do not know how many sets there are of each particular jersey the Mets order. I have a set E jersey from 06 that was worn in 08, so it looks like the Mets may have 4 or so and that in 07 switched to a number system.
I dont think that because I think mine is the jersey in the photo. I have the set 1 jersey. A better high res photo would tell though. Mine has some loose threads that should match up if you can find a better pic. We'll probably never know.
This is a desperation act, and really do not if it's anything and would love to hear your thoughts. I really need a high-quality zoom for pictures on Getty, but I can't get that so I am going with this. To me, there may be a similarity on the "E", let me know what you think.
