Re: Tony Gwynn Bats
Kyle,
I've wondered about that myself. Both of my "hit" bats show a good amount of use and it doesn't look like bp use either, so it's tough to say. For a guy who got a hit almost every third at bat, it's hard to believe that these bats were used for only one hit. I prefer his older bats that were used heavily until broken over the newer ones which appear to be used for 3-5 games and then packaged away.
I do believe at the end of his career he purchased all of his equipment himself so he had the right to auction them off.

Re: Tony Gwynn Bats
I love those Gwynn bats with the colored in MLB logo.
Something I question though is all the equipment he used during his quest to hit #3000. Like the helmet for instance posted in here....he really wore that helmet for only 1 hit? So did Gwynn really use 1 helmet, bat, batting gloves, etc. for each hit?Leave a comment:

Re: Tony Gwynn Bats
BMH- not sure if you're reading this thread but I noticed there are four different Gwynn signatures. His "rookie" sig was used in '82-'83 I believe. Then he had the same signature from '84-'89 before switching to his traditional modern signature in 1990. There was an additional modern signature used later in his career. Is there any reason why late in his career it seemed you guys randomly used three various sigs on his bats?
Thanks,
Nick

Tony Gwynn Bats
As many of you know I collect Gwynn bats. I know there are a few other Gwynn collectors on this site, I'd love to see what everybody else has. Here's my collection as of now.
