Re: Dallas Cowboys Double Star Jersey Help
The "34" on the front of the jersey looks a little more compact than I remember.

I saw that one -- it is the first one I have ever seen listed for sale. I also wonder it if is legit. SSLeave a comment:

Re: Dallas Cowboys Double Star Jersey Help
If I'm remembering the story correctly the Apex "new" Double Star jerseys were supposed to be phased in as the Cowboys regular look, but Jerry was the only one who liked them. Since they were coming off back-to-back Super Bowls the players themselves didn't want to make the change. The never did wear the blue ones; they wore the then-standard navy jerseys (with the two silver stripes and grey numbers with the navy/white outlines) when they had to wear their dark jerseys that year. Jerry convinced them to wear the white ones for their playoff game against the 49ers.
When they switched to Nike jerseys for 1996 they started wearing the navy jersey they currently wear.
Also, the "new Double Star" jerseys were worn with the silver/navy stripe pants, not the "silver green"/royal stripes.Leave a comment:

Re: Dallas Cowboys Double Star Jersey Help
I have a 1994 double star Dave Thomas. The tagging is almost identical to yours. The only minor difference is the size tag(46) is above the "long"tag and they are on the right side(if you are looking at the front of the jersey) of the Apex tag.Leave a comment:

Re: Dallas Cowboys Double Star Jersey Help
It wasn't the last time Jerry thumbed his nose at the NFL, I remember when he decided to go with Nike for the Cowboys uniforms when the NFL had a contract with a different company.
I always thought the blue were worn in 1994, but I guess not, so now I wonder why the 75th anni. patch was ever put on my jersey.
Anybody ever seen one of those Thanksgiving throwbacks for sale ? I forgot all about those, they are pretty sweet. I have seen a bunch of those white throwbacks like the ones that were worn in the playoffs, but they were tagged 1995 and had no 75th anni. patch. I guess they were made up but never used the following year.

Dallas wore there usual home and away then wore throwbacks on a Monday night football game against the Lions which they lost. They broke out the double star during the playoffs. They did not wear the blue double star during the 94 season only the white during the playoffs.I'm 99% sure of that

Vince,
Imagine that... King Jerry flipping the bird at the NFL...
That would be an interesting story if anyone else has any info on that!

Re: Dallas Cowboys Double Star Jersey Help
If I remember correctly, I believe the Cowboys got into a little trouble with the league in 1994 because they wore 4 different styles of jerseys in 1 year during a time when teams were only allowed to wear 3, home, road and throwback/alternate.

Re: Dallas Cowboys Double Star Jersey Help
When I researched, I went to a couple of places: Getty Images and Wikipedia. I didn't find any Getty Images from 1994 with the Cowboys wearing the jerseys.
This is what I pulled from Wikipedia:
In 1994, the NFL celebrated their 75th Anniversary, and the Dallas Cowboys celebrated their back-to-back Super Bowl titles by unveiling a white "Double-Star" jersey on Thanksgiving Day. This jersey was used for special occasions and was worn throughout the 1994–1995 playoffs. During the same season, the Cowboys also wore their 1960–63 road jersey with a silver helmet for one game as part of a league-wide "throwback" policy.
During the 1995 season, the team wore the navy "Double-Star" jersey for games at Washington and Philadelphia and permanently switched to solid color socks (royal blue for the white uniform, and navy blue for the dark uniform). The navy "Double-Star" jersey was not seen again until the NFL's Classic Throwback Weekend on Thanksgiving Day 2001–2003.Leave a comment:

Re: Dallas Cowboys Double Star Jersey Help
I believe these shirts were also worn in 1994. If you look closely, many of these jerseys show evidence of the 75th anniv. patch being removed. I bought a common player off the Cowboys website years ago and it is pretty easy to see where the patch was removed.

Thanks guys. Like I said, I wasn't concerned because I wanted that jersey anyway but I wanted to know the story behind the tagging just in case.
