Re: Asking for more help, this one with a Fisk bat
I took the advice and just went with the "pudge" bat as it shows lots of tar and is cracked, the other did look promotional. I got batting gloves with it for a really good price. Will post pics when it arrives!

Re: Asking for more help, this one with a Fisk bat
H & B records document that Fisk received two signature model promotional bats (T141 and C243) in July, 1988 (see below) . He didn't order a signature model again from H & B until April, 1993.

Re: Asking for more help, this one with a Fisk bat
According to Malta's book, the "no finish" ones were also sent to baseball promotions in the 1986-89 era, 32 oz. (All should be 34.5" long.) It looks like the black and hickory ("poo-brown") models are OK.
Of course, some 34.5", 32 oz. no-finish bats from this era were also sent to Fisk to use, so I guess if you're presented with this particular model, you'll need to make a decision based on your comfort level with the seller. Personally, I'd need some real proof to buy a gamer that was also available through baseball promotions.

Be careful with the T141, that was the model that LV also made a ton of for "baseball promotions." I've seen many at auction that fall into this category.

These would be the 86-89 ERA Louisville Sluggers.Leave a comment:

Re: Asking for more help, this one with a Fisk bat
Thanks Ken! I am hoping from the source it is good, is there anything special to look for on those? He says its loaded with pine tar and has his 72 on the knob but would want to be on the lookout for anything...Leave a comment:

Re: Asking for more help, this one with a Fisk bat
great! I will pick both bats up and his gloves. Seller has his last pair of Chi-Sox shin guards but wants more for them than I want to pay, but if someone is interested he is asking $900 or so. Bats much cheaper, thankfully!Leave a comment:

Re: Asking for more help, this one with a Fisk bat
Fisk had a contract with Adirondack so his Adirondacks were signature models. There were alot of Adirondack store model Fisk bats made so make sure you see a model number verses a single digit on the knobs. (ie 160B)
Fisk HB bats were primarily block letter bats.Leave a comment:

Asking for more help, this one with a Fisk bat
Has any of his game used bats had his signature as Pudge Fisk? I have only seen block letter bats when searching google images but have a chance at one but cannot seem to match one with that inscription. It saysBig Stick on top, Pudge Fisk in auto in the center and Flame Treated on the bottom. Thanks for any help!Tags: None
