Re: Reggie Jackson Bat Question
Reggie used a 'sanded handle'. He ordered them that way sometimes, and it is denoted in his shipping records(LVS)Leave a comment:

Re: Reggie Jackson Bat Question
The absence of any other stamping on the knob other than the 288RJ would potentially date this bat to the middle of 1979. Starting in 1980 Rawlings added the lot stamp and year (0 for 80, 1 for 81, etc) with the same center branding as this Jackson bat. So it certainly is a pro model bat.
I would think the shaved handle would decrease the value of the bat especially since Jackson was not known to use taped handles.
You may want to find out if the sanding was done by the current owner or if he received the bat like that. Also is there anything written on the knob which would attribute the bat to Reggie (ie no. 44 or Jax on the knob)?Leave a comment:

Re: Reggie Jackson Bat Question
Thanks for the help David!
So here's one that I think is the same model bat.
Talked to the seller and he said the bat was slightly sanded down due to tape residue. What do you think this bat is worth?
thanks,
Ethan

Re: Reggie Jackson Bat Question
Ethan,
What is stamped on the knob of the bat?
The bat handle looks shaved. I don't think Reggie ever shaved his bat handles.
