I would say coaches hat. Signature looks good. However, all the Mattingly Yankees coaches hats, jerseys, pants, ect. that I have seen over the years have had Steiner LOAs. The lack of a Steiner hologram doesnt make it not legit, but I'd have a hard time purchasing a cap without solid provenance.

The tagging is from between 2002 to 2005. Not 1994.

I know he used to put the 23 under the brim & it looks like it may have been there before the autograph, Looks to be worn also,
