Re: Help with Rose, Murphy & Dawson jerseys
Jim, How often was this done? I thought that the teams typically laundered their own jerseys. Thanks. Chuck

I have read people questioning the amount of Schmidt, Carlton and Rose jerseys on the market. To me, that makes sense because from 1979-1983 the Phillies were on a roll. As such, it would seem logical to me that if anyone knew anyone associated with the team, they wanted a star player jersey and not a regular role player. Here's a cool story, years ago, I was talking to a construction guy who helped tear the Vet down. He told me that when they disassembled the various locker-rooms, all kinds of stuff was hidden in the dropped ceilings.

Re: Help with Rose, Murphy & Dawson jerseys
Thanks! I wasn't sure if each jersey they wore got a new set number, but I learned more each day here! Evidently, the guy I got them from had a friend that worked in the Dodgers visitor's clubhouse and was trying to collect a jersey from each member of the All Star team. These are his last 3. But wow, what a collection he had!Leave a comment:

Re: Help with Rose, Murphy & Dawson jerseys
you needed at least (2) set 1...a double header would use both shirts..Leave a comment:

Re: Help with Rose, Murphy & Dawson jerseys
Thanks to Jim's encouragement, I went ahead and took the plunge on the three jerseys. I sent a bank check for insurance to make be a week and a half before it clears and I get them, but will post more pics when I do. Thanks to Jim for the advice: "MAN UP - go for it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"Leave a comment:

Re: Help with Rose, Murphy & Dawson jerseys
What happened was, the Phillies rotated their jerseys on a daily basis. For example, if the Phillies wore Set 1 jerseys on a Sunday, they were sent out after the game. On Monday, while the Set 1 jerseys were being cleaned, the team wore Set 2 jerseys. When they were returned from the dry cleaners, a cleaning Van pulled around to the OUTSIDE of the clubhouse and a member of the Phillies equipment staff met the Van outside of the clubhouse. I can't ever remember seeing the delivery guy going into the clubhouse.
Anyway, the jerseys were on a roll-able clothing rack. When the Phillies Staff member went outside to get the jerseys, all he did was look at the flaps of the jerseys and count how many jerseys were on the rack - he didn't look at the names or numbers, he just counted the flaps. For example, if the Phillies sent out 50 Set 1 jerseys, when they were returned the following day, there should be 50 Set 1 jerseys. If the number didn't match what was sent out, well, there was a problem. After he was done, he rolled the rack into the clubhouse.
That's it - I was there and I personally saw it.
I would imagine that if a particular jersey was missing from a particular set, when the team replaced the missing jersey, it would be replaced with a jersey that carried the same set number of the jersey that was missing.

Re: Help with Rose, Murphy & Dawson jerseys
As regards 1982 Pete Rose road jerseys, I have seen at least two different with Set 1 plus another two different with Set 2. One of the Set 1 jerseys had an SCD Authentic LOA, and the other had a MEARS LOA.Leave a comment:

Help with Rose, Murphy & Dawson jerseys
I have the chance to buy these jerseys but wanted to get feedback on the tags. I don't know too much so any help would be great. I think I am getting a decent deal on two HOFers and the Hit King... thanks for any insight!
