Marcus is exactly right...Rose bats are very tricky, depending on the model and the period of his career, and length / weight are important factors in reviewing factory records. The lack of a handle makes authentication impossible in this case.

I wouldn't touch a bat with the handle missing. Who knows what was was stamped on the knob. Could have been a store model.

Hi, I recently stopped by one of my local memorabilia dealers and noticed he has a Pete Rose game used bat. Everything with the bat checks out the only thing is that the handle is missing. What would be a good price to pay for the bat? It isnt hammered or anything, it just shows light to moderate use on the bat. plmk what you think. I believe he has it marked at $400 as well.
