This bat is was manufactured by WORTH circa 1990-91 at the request of Tony Gwynn for his personal professional use. This bat measures 32.5 inches in length and weighs approximately 31.5 ounces. Gwynn's personal ordering records of another bat manufacturer, H & B, document these dimensions as consistent with Gwynn's ordering patterns of the period. . The knob bears the following stamped information, consistent with Worth professional model bats: " T G 2 1/2 WC134." Tony has signed this bat on the sweet spot in silver marker with a killer 5 inch long sutograph against the black finish of this bat.
This bat displays light game use, and exhibits knob wear, cleat mark, hit marks (most in the 'Gwynn hitting area' below the barrel label) and slight grain separation. This bat is uncracked but with grain separation as noted above. Tony Gwynn was a prolific user of bats of different models and from different manufacturers throughout his career. Had the 1994 season not been shortened by a strike, Gwynn would have had the chance to become the first batter to eclipse the magical .400 mark in more than 50 years.
