Re: A tale of two Leachs
David,
I have no idea? My thought would be that closers/reliever don't really take batting practice, and it might give them something to do before games?
If you look at Fingers ordering records you'll see he ordered fungo bats toward the end of his career. I have never seen one for sale, but would love to have one. I thinks its a really cool conversation piece. Nice pickup!

Not sure about Leach, but I know Rollie Fingers ordered fungo bats during his career. Hope this helps.

A tale of two Leachs
I'm looking at two Terry Leach bats I have an noticed a large discrepency in the bat lengths. One is a 35 1/2 (yes!) inch 454A and the other is a 113B 34 inch. The 35 1/2 inch bat is very narrow not unlike a fungo bat while the 34 inch bat is typical of what I've seen of Leach bats.
I wondering if the 454A bat is really a fungo bat and why would a relief pitcher need a fungo?
Any thoughts?
