Game Used Universe Forum Auction Rules
How Will Auction Items Be Displayed On the Game Used Universe Site?
Forum auction items will be displayed in a designated forum folder entitled “Forum Auction Items”. The forum auction items will be listed in individual threads. The initial post of each thread will contain the item description, images of the item and the item’s bid status. The bid status will display the current high bid, the bidder number, the next bid increment and a link to place bids by email.
Who Is Eligible To Bid?
Any party interested in bidding must complete the bidder registration process on the Game Used Universe site. This process includes the listing of references (preferably hobby related). Upon registration completion, the applicant will receive a bidder ID that can be used to bid in the Game Used Universe forum auctions. However, Game Used Universe reserves the ultimate right to determine who is eligible to bid based on information provided by the applicant.
How Can Members Place Bids?
Any party with a valid bidder ID can place bids by email throughout the auction via the email links on the auction listing pages. All email bid submissions will be verified by Game Used Universe before being posted on the Game Used Universe site. Verified bids for the same amount will be awarded to the bidder whose bid is first received by Game Used Universe. Please note this will be determined by when Game Used Universe receives the bid, not when the bid is sent. In addition, bids can also be placed via phone at 925.552.8023 during the last 12 hours of the auction. Phone bids will also be verified by Game Used Universe before being posted on the Game Used Universe site.
How Will Bids Be Updated?
Bids will be updated directly in the item listing by Game Used Universe. All bidding updates will include the high bidders ID as well as the current approved bid amount.
How And When Will An Auction Item Close?
The game used items in this auction are scheduled to close at 10:00 PM EST on March 22, 2007. The autographed items will close at 10:00 PM EST on March 27, 2007. On the night of the auction closing, starting at 10:00 PM EST, the entire auction will be extended and remain open until no bids have been placed, either by email or by phone, for a period of 10 minutes.
During that time period, if any bids are placed, either by email or by phone, the entire auction will be extended another 10 minutes. Once 10 minutes pass without any bids being placed, either by email or by phone, the entire auction will close.
What Type Of Bids Can Be Placed?
Bids may be placed as:
a) Fixed bid amounts as long as the amount is at or above the “Next Minimum Bid Amount” shown on the auction listing page. The minimum bid amount will show as a “Minimum Opening Bids” for items that have yet to receive a bid,
b) “Ceiling Bids” where the bidder authorizes Game Used Universe to bid up to a given amount on their behalf. In the case of ceiling bids, Game Used Universe will bid only the next bid amount on the bidder’s behalf until another bid is placed below the ceiling bid. If another bid is placed below the ceiling bid, Game Used Universe will then place the next bid amount on behalf of the bidder which exceeds the other bid and is below the ceiling amount.
Please note that all “Ceiling Bids” must be made in excess of the “Next Minimum Bid Amount" and must be clearly designated in email bids. Also, unlike fixed bid amounts, “Ceiling Bids” may be superseded by other bids that are less than the normal “Next Minimum Bid Amount” increment if the ceiling bid is not posted on the site.
Will There Be Any “Buyer’s Premiums”?
NO. The will not be any buyer’s premiums associated with the final bid amount during settlement.
When Is Payment Due?
Payment, which includes the final bid, shipping and insurance costs, must be received by Game Used Universe within 14 days of the auction close. If payment is not received by Game Used Universe within 14 days of the auction close, the buyer’s credit card will automatically be used for settlement.
What Types Of Payments Are Acceptable?
For the GUU Forum Auctions, winning bidders may pay by check, money order, Visa or MasterCard. The mailing address for checks and money orders will be included in the winning bidder invoice.
Can Members Ask Questions About The Items In Auction?
Yes, members can ask questions via posts on the thread where the item is listed. All questions can be answered by forum members as long as the responses comply with the forum rules available at:
Can Auction Items Have Reserves?
Yes, some auction items may have reserves. In instances where an item has a reserve and the reserve has not been met, the situation will be clearly identified in the auction listing by the words “Reserve Not Yet Met” next to the bid. Please note that consignors are not eligible to bid on their own items and Game Used Universe will not place bids on behalf of consignors to raise the bidding status of any item.
