Re: Still Looking to Sell Some Jerseys
Just did a update on my site at www.jerseydave.com , added some jerseys, bats, and a Modano stick. Please take a look and e-mail me with any photo requests as photos of these items have not been uploaded to the net yet.
All new items are marked "New" in orange so they are easy to spot.
thanks for the read..

Re: Still Looking to Sell Some Jerseys
Rudy,
This might be off the topic a bit, but based on your lengthy reply earlier, I was wondering if you can help me with something.
I have been collecting Mets jerseys from the 70s to today's styles. I have just about 1 of every style since the beginning, with a few holes in my collection. I have also been building a database of all of their jersey variations, and the years in which they wore each.
I could use some help with this database as well, and it's not often I come across someone who knows this much about the topic. Are you able to help me with some of your knowledge? I can provide what I have to this point if you can help me fill in the knowledge gap.
Regards
Nick

Re: Still Looking to Sell Some Jerseys
David -- I have a Jeff Kent '94 batting practice jersey and it's the same exact style as your Howard.
One thing that sets the 93-94 jerseys apart from all of the other Mets styles throughout the years is the fact that during these 2 years, they underlined the word Mets.
In '95, the BP style switched, as did all of the Mets on field jerseys -- the major change was the removal of the underline under the Mets.
Seeing that Howard was a coach from 94-96, this style only could have been a '94. I understand that you probably want to research this item more, but I am 100% sure that it is a 94. It can't be any other year.Leave a comment:

Rudy, thanks and that is a awesome and informative post. Based on this, the Hoard jersey is no longer for sale. I trusted the source. Until further evidence can be found, the jersey will just no longer be up for sale. Rudy and Nic, thank you both for bringing this to my attention...

Re: Still Looking to Sell Some Jerseys
re: jerseydave's 1983 frank howard mets bp jersey
doesn't the russell "diamond collection" tag completely give it away?
russell wasn't supplying the major leagues with game or bp jerseys until 1992. not only that but the russell tag is circa 1993-95.
there are a couple of other issues with this jersey. in 1983, the mets had 2 bp jerseys - home and road. the home had orange lettering & numbering, while the road had white lettering and numbering. both had sleeve trim, neck trim, and numbers on the front. this jersey does has none of these. additionally the mets bp jerseys in 1983 were supplied by either rawlings or goodman. see below for examples of 1983 mets bp home jerseys:
as for the mets bp jerseys in 1994, the mets once again used home and road bp jerseys. the home said "mets" on the front in orange, the road said "new york" in white. these were supplied by russell and had no neck or sleeve trim. i believe they did however have numbers on the front and a patch on the left sleeve. see below for 1994 mets bp home jersey:
bruce hartel must've made a typo or other error. it's difficult to imagine looking at a russell jersey and thinking it's from the 80's. the absence of the patch and front numbers suggest that this may be a spring training jersey worn by howard as a coach or guest. keep in mind this is purely a guess as i have no idea what the mets wore in spring training 1993-1994. they may have worn front numbers and a patch in spring training as well, in which case i have no idea what this jersey is.

Now after doing a little more research, I am wrong on one thing.. Going from the description in the auction of the Frank Howard photo, it states Howard was a coach for the Mets from 1994 - 1996 as well, so you may be right on your opinion that the jersey is a older one. I have the catalog here for Hartel and they do have it listed as a 80's jersey.
They bought Mets jerseys for a long time and have been buying sets of Mets jerseys so I trusted thier listing and year date. I know Howard wore #55 while managing the Mets..
So here's a question for any Mets media guide owners from 1994-1996.. Did Frank Howard wear #55 in these 3 years as well?
Nic, thank you for bringing this to my attention, you could very well be right, and my year listing wrong. If someone here can provide us with some info, I will be happy to change the date on my listing... for now, I have corrected it to just say Frank Howard BP jersey with no date. Forum members, please help with some info if you can...thanks.Leave a comment:

Hi Nick, thanks for the response. The Dave Parker jersey is still in my poessesion and I would sell if for $175.00. The Sparky Lyle is not for sale, I still do have it.
As for the Frank Howard jersey, please take a look at the following photo on ebay:
The front Mets font seems to match up to my jersey. I bought the jersey from Hartel Sports and Frank Howard was with the Yankees in 1994. So based on the above photo, do you think that photo was from 1994? Between the photo's like the one above, Hartel dating it in their catalog as I have it listed, and Frank Howard only being the the Mets only from 1982 - 1984... thats how I came to the conclusion on the jersey.Leave a comment:

Re: Still Looking to Sell Some Jerseys
I just took a look at the photobucket pics... wow some nice stuff.
Especially liked the 1988 baby blue Royals Tom Gordon, the 87 Candelaria Mets and the 80 Sparky Lyle Rangers (guess I'm an 80s kind of guy?!)
A few questions if you don't mind...
Is the Sparky Lyle 1980 gone? And the 88 Dave Parker Oakland? Photos are in photobucket but not in the list on on your website.
Confused about the Mets Frank Howard BP -- it looks like a '94 style BP but is labeled '83. Any more info would be appreciated... I collect all style Mets jerseys but do not have one of these in my collection.
Thanks,
NickLeave a comment:
