I have a 1974 Willie McCovey game used bat that has been signed by the entire Padres team. The bat came from pitcher Lowell Palmer and was given to him by his road roomate McCovey.

    Dave:
Thanks for the heads-up. I took a look at this and actually had it on my watch list for a couple of days, but I would want it to strip the existing logo and numbers off to customize as a 1978 Padres jersey, and I wasn't sure I could find a company to replicate the logo font, etc. Thank you very much for the heads-up!

    Jay:

It's not Major League, but there is a Reno Padres California League gamer (patterned after the 1978-79 MLB style...not sure if hand-me-down or ordered by Reno) that closes on eBay later today.

I also am looking for a copy of the 1976 MLB All-Star Game from Philadelphia. Also looking for the Monday night Baseball broadcast of San Diego's home game with Randy Jones as the starter in 1976. Can be VHS or DVD-R.

    Thanks,
    Jay

The Family Fun Center team issued "postcard" cards are very cool and worth picking up when you find them on eBay. I have a complete set from the 1989 season and a partial set from 1978.

Interestingly enough, I developed a good customer relationship with the then-manager of the Padres Gift Shop back in 1979 with Toy Clinton. She used to send me catalogs each year, and along with my orders, she sent me a list of several things that they were going to clear out (throw away), and asked me to pick one item from several groups that she sent me, so I picked up the 1978 Fun Center partial set, an Ozzie Smith poster, 11" x 17" 1978 art pictures of famous Padres, 1970 Team photo, etc. All came in a big box.

Of course this was back in 1980, and Ms. Clinton is long-gone. I understand now with the move to the new Petco stadium that the current gift shop is more MLB generic stuff.... Sad.

    Hi Jay,

You are set NOT to receive private messages from fellow forum members, in case you didn't know that. You may want to consider changing your setting.

Please give me your email, or email me at:

I'll sell the bat to you for exactly what I paid for it, if you like it.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Jay,

I have a really nice Dave Winfield (signed and inscribed) Louisville Slugger game used bat from his San Diego days. That would make it the most desirable bat for him to most collectors, since he entered the Hall as a Padre.

Let me know if you may be interested.

    Regards,

    Steve

Vintage San Diego Padres Items Wanted

    Hi, All:
I am a new user to this forum, and I have been greatly impressed in the one week I have been a member. Being a long-time San Diego Padres fan since 1975, I am interested in Padres items in the "brown and gold"era, from 1975-1984, especially items such as game-used pants, jerseys, bats, helmets, and caps, and especially players such as Randy Jones, Gene Richards, Dave Roberts, Gene Tenace, Bob Shirley, Terry Kennedy, John McNamara, Alvin Dark.

    Thank you,
    Jay
