My latest photo match is this Adam Dunn LVS I13 block letter bat being used on October 4, 2001 at Wrigley Field against Kerry Wood and the Cubs. This was the 4th to last game of Dunn's rookie season and the last away game he played as a rookie. Adam hit his 19th and final home run of the year the previous day. There aren't many pictures out there from Adam Dunn's rookie season (286 plate appearances in 66 games) and this is the first photo matched rookie bat I've seen.

April 23, 2005 - Adam Dunn entered the game as a pinch-hitter for the Reds down 4-2 to the Marlins, 2 out, top of the 9th at Sun Life Stadium. 4 pitches later Dunn hit a double to deep left center, his 99th career double. Here is the photo match:

Just got this Cano game-used helmet from the 2010 All-Star game. I was initially concerned when someone posted a Getty image here, of him wearing a different one during the game. Digging around, I found that all the Cano AP and Getty images from that game were from his second at-bat. Going back and watching his first at-bat on MLB TV, I found that he did indeed wear this helmet for a single at-bat.

Mears assured me (in writing) that only one of each of these experimental helmets was made for each player. Some wore them, some didn't. Cano obviously didn't like it enough to wear it twice.

Just realized in my most recent pick up of this 2014 Teal Mike Zunino Mariners jersey. That its the very one used in this Photo-file picture and same photo listed in the ESPN box score for that game on June 13 2014. Wow pretty cool. MLB Authenticated #HZ 288361. Now I just need to get it signed!:D

Also the all star logo appears to be further away from the rawlings logo on yours that the photo you posted. The one from the game appears to be nearly touching the rawling logo.

I dont think its the same helmet at all.

I have multiple screen-grabs of the back of the helmet - all from the same at bat - and positioning looks different in every one. If you've ever done this before you'll know that because the images aren't clear on these screen-grabs, some of the details appear to be slightly-off.

This one does match, but thanks for your opinion.

By the way - I completely understand what you are saying. Here's another screen-shot from almost exactly the same moment, but the star/rawlings separation is greater. Also, the brightness of the star outline caused a blurring of the dark area between the bottom of the star points, so it looks closer.

I also checked the decal locations on the backs of other helmets used in the game, and there isn't much consistency in location - this one can't be proven conclusively because there isn't wear and I can't get clear pics, but the decal location does look good.

I'm going to do more screen-grabs from a better screen and see if it makes a difference.

Here's Zunino's 22nd home run of the year - September 25 at Toronto. He continued to use this bat through the end of the season, so plenty more marks - there is even a blue 'Rawlings' ball mark on it. The bat was finally cracked after his 2-RBI single in the Mariner's last game.

Back to that Cano helmet...

It's been sitting on a shelf since I got it. I just had a look at it, and noticed the Rawlings label was coming off on both the left and right sides - a lot - and this is only occurred in the month I've had it. Then I noticed that there is sticker residue slightly to the left of that label - the sticker had obviously been moved slightly up and to the right. Unfortunately I could not get a better screen-grab, and there is only one game-use mark on it, which I could not match.

So you were right about the positioning, although it is very slight. As far as it not being the same helmet, I don't think that is true, but without any matchable game-use, you can never be 100% sure. Mears could have done something nefarious, but I doubt it.

Got lucky in matching this one thanks to the imperfections on the L. This is Cole Hamels 2008 batting practice/press conference hoodie. Worn throughout the playoffs including the WS. They did not have a separate WS hoodie. Autographed on the front by Cole and his number is on the neck tagging.

No 2 digital Camo patterns are the same. Nats confirmed they only ordered one Rendon Camo jersey for 2014 & Nats only wore this style one time during the 2014 season.

You'll need to show something signed in blood (see Cano AS Helmet in earlier post).

But seriously, I bid on many of the items the Nats auctioned from the playoffs and attempted photo-matches prior to bidding. Some of the items simply did not match up with what they claimed, but others did. Yours photo-matches, so that's great, but I hope no one got burned on some of the caps and jerseys they claimed were worn in the NLDS.

I did not save my photo-match fails, but it's easy enough for anyone to go back through MLB TV and get screen-shots.

Thanks, Dan. I collect quite a bit of baseballs, mainly Freeman base hits. There's always that little bit of doubt in my head asking "Did they really get the right baseball?" This definitely helps ease that and proves just how accurate the authenticators really are!

Jeff Scott repaired this Molina bat and photomatched it to 8/15/13 use the slope test spot. Crazy he can do this! Bat got a lot of use after this so im trying to track down other dates.

Sun Woo Kim- 2004 Montreal Expos.
Perfect pinstripe matches to pics and video from the Expos final game in Montreal. Kim was the final Expo pitcher to start a game in Montreal and gave up the last HR ever hit in Olympic Stadium (to a young Miggy Cabrera). Matched to pics throughout the 2004 season, Looks like a lot of the Expos wore only one set of jerseys that season (home, road, Puerto Rico 'home'). Makes sense as MLB was probably cheaping out on costs as being the owners of the club during the last few seasons of their existence.

I am alway curious when I see things like this. But in your picture the top "dark" mark is much lighter than the one below it. But in the proof shot they are almost the same darkness. Any idea how that happens when then other stay the same darkness?

That might have to do with bokeh, focus and the depth of field for the original photo.

2014 Big Papi Bat... He used this bat in the Bronx in the first series against the Yanks in April and then was seen again using this at BP at Fenway the 2nd series vs. the Yanks in April.

Just acquired George Hendrick's first baseman's mitt from 1983. George was an outfielder most of his career, but after Keith Hernandez was dealt to the Mets on 6/15/83, the Cards had a hole at first -- and Whitey Herzog asked George to learn a new position. This is the glove he used. Guessing he may also have used it with the Angels in the late '80s when he played a few games at first.

With a feeble attempt at washing these pants, they still couldn't get the entire grass stain out. I assume this is also because Washington also puts paint on top of their grass.
Most of the Seahawks JERSEYS aren't washed before they sell them. As my Clemmons road grey still has all the grass on it.
I'd say they DO wash the pants, because............ well, gross.

Seattle in 2012, 2013 and 2014 have only worn white pants 7 times.
In 2014 it was ONCE, vs. the Redskins.

Sure enough, I look at the photos and per a slide by Russ, grass stain.

Just posted this in the Bears thread, but... I was able to photo match my Terry Schmidt gamer that was reissued to DB Mike Hintz for the 1987 pre-season. Being that there is a piece of extra material covering the outline of an old GSH shoulder patch from the 1983 season, I felt very confident that Schmidt wore this at some point. I'm very happy to now know that I have a perfect photo match to prove it.

Recently picked up this 2015 Alcides Escobar Jersey, thanks to another GUU member. I have photomatched it to two games on June 3 and July 7, 2015. This was the Royals World Series Championship season. Escobar also won his first Gold Glove and made his first start in the 2015 All-Star game. mizz0ufan, yes I photomatched it myself. All of my photomatches are ones that I have done. I know there are services out there but I have not had need of them as of yet. I love looking through pictures and video hunting down my items to match them.

If you have something you would like to have photomatched make a new thread and post some pictures of your bat. I have found that any number of people on this site are willing to help, me included. There is also Resolution Photomatching and others that you can hire to do it too.

Because of the unique scar on the wood, I was able to photo-match my Joe Panik bat to a total of 57 At-Bats. Just for displaying purposes here, I'll just show pictures from July 10th 2015. Panik went 4 for 6 with a home run (career #8) and 3 RBI's showcasing a fan flopping into the Bay to retrieve the home run ball that is shown all the time on MLB Network. Also the second to last game 7/22/15 he used it highlighting all the added ball marks accumulated throughout the use. I took 117 still shots to showcase every At-Bat this bat was used in.

Photomatched a shin/ankle guard used by Paulo Orlando (PO). I searched on gettyimages for PO at bats for 2016. I also reviewed pictures of all Royals who bat from the left side of the plate (right handed). Most of them don't wear ankle guard, and those who do, wear different styles like Lo Cain, whose guard is black. The only exception was Salvador Perez, who wore the same style in 2016. So I checked Salvy's at bat as well, to get pictures of his guard.

1. Looking to match the dirt stains on the Velcro bands looked like the obvious thing to do, but not the right thing because those Velcro bands come completely off & could be washed or replaced easily. Therefore, to find a picture that exactly matches the dirt patterns would require finding the play where PO slid and left the exact patterns shown, so it would take a lot of time and access to all Royals games.

2. I found a couple of other distinguishing characteristics that are better match. On the top right corner, the left pic is Paulo at bat on 9/22/16, right pic is Salvador Perez at bat 9/15/16, middle is my pic. The red circles show that left & middle guards both have holes but the one on the right doesn't. The green shows that left & middle have similar rough finish compared to right one. Finally, yellow shows left & middle logo with shadow (looks darker) on bottom right while right does not. The shadow is a dimple on the guard, which is made of some hard material so it doesn't change shape easily.

3. The guard I got has 2 dimples, one on either side of logo. The first one was shown in the previous picture, while the second is shown in the picture on left bottom. PO's dimple is slanted down, while Salvy's also appears to have a dimple, but horizontal. In addition, Salvy's logo has the darker line cutting thru the logo closer to the center, while PO's darker line is closer to the right edge. The last picture on the lower right shows the close up of the second dimple.

Victus AXE handle bat used by Lonnie Chisenhall to hit a pinch hit grand slam against the Detroit Tigers on 04/14/17. Bat was broken in the bottom of the 1st inning the very next day, and was authenticated by MLB at that time. Added this to my collection not too long ago, Tommy Casanova's game used LSU helmet. Vintage LSU game used items, especially one of a significant player, are extremely difficult to find. It took me three months to acquire it. It was sitting on the shelf in a small restaurant in a small town. I frequented it and talked to the owners enough about it which eventually lead to me acquiring it from them. It was once owned by LSU's Heisman Trophy Winner Billy Cannon who had acquired it decades ago either from the LSU athletic dept while Casanova was playing at LSU, or from Casanova himself while he was playing at LSU. Cannon gave it to the restaurant owners as he had been to their restaurant and became friends with the owners and wanted them to have it on display with their other memorabilia.

It is sadly missing its face mask, which I have decided not to replace with a replica. The helmets rarity though makes this an afterthought. The padding has become detached as the glue had dried up, however it is present with the helmet and I would like to have it professionally reattached. Any help with who is reputable would be appreciated.

After I acquired it, I set out on a quest to attempt to photo-match it, however I knew my chances would be slim as the videos of games are not of good quality, and there are only so many photos to be found. I started searching the internet in every conceivable location, and then began looking through my collection of programs, media guides and wire photos. Then I found my helmet in an article about the equipment staff's preparation for away games in a 1971 LSU vs Florida program. It is a perfect match. I honestly couldn't believe that I was able to photo match it.

Great find and match with the LSU-helmet. Looking thru old pictures is a lot of fun, but nothing compared to finally matching an item you thought was almost impossible.

Hi everyone-
I picked up this awesome 1993 Mike Greenwell gamer. He was a favorite of mine growing up, so the bat has a lot of psychological value. Plus, the straight grain, perfect deep stamping and tar make it pretty visually appealing.

As you can see, the bat has a small number 9 on the knob, underneath the 39, an unfamiliar traits on Mike's bats which made it easy to match to the card. Also, Sureshots Promotions had this photo of Mike on their website with bat grain that matches up to mine.

I love the challenge of matching the relatively vintage bats!

Cargo hit two homers on August 29 (the day of the mlb hologram) and cracked this bat late in the game after already being 4-4 with two HR but i couldn’t get any actual matches during those two HR at bats because they were first pitch homers.

Cargo also faced Kershaw using this bat (went 0-3 imagine that) and thought that was pretty cool too.

One of the best examples of a cargo bat I’ve seen.

I have a Bubba Trammell 2000 WS jersey. It has a lot of wear and due to the lack of good photos of Bubba during games played at Yankee
stadium i didn't think i would able to photomatch it. I did find this photo however and think i see a match on the Mets skyline patch.

Just an FYI for photo-matching because I don't think this has been discussed on GUU.

You can now go to the majority of photos on Getty Images, click on the thumbnail preview, and there is an option to "Buy the Print". You are then forwarded to photos.com and can purchase a print from anywhere between $80-$100 pending on the size and standard 20-40% off coupon codes you can easily find online.

I purchased a few and they are high quality, hi resolution prints and are much better than the printed on standard zoomed in paper photo-match prints offered by some of these companies.

Alex Ovechkin's 2009-10 Red Set 2 Washington Capitals jersey.

I'm really happy to finally get not only one of Ovi's Caps jerseys, but also one with some pretty good stats and number of games worn. It is also photo matched several times over.

Ovi wore this jersey for 15 games, and had 10 goals, 18 assists, and 28 points. He scored a hat trick against Pittsburgh (2/7/10) and at least one point in every game that he wore this jersey.

Im looking to purchase a Marino game jersey and have been burned in the past. I found this but I cant confirm its legit. I feel its missing the JR patch and cut under sleeve, although it does appear widened. LOA aside, it says sold on Lelands. I found that listing on their website but not any better description and fewer pics.
