1977 Jim Morrison cap on eBay incorrectly identified

Jonstats has a Phillies cap on eBay listed as a 1977 Jim Morrison:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/201112489131

The cap has the 1988-1993 New Era company tag and sizing tag. Additionally, it doesn't have the sweat protection ring, which New Era used through 1988. I did message him, and he told me to go ahead and post here and look at his feedback. Then he blocked me from bidding on his items (his prerogative, entirely). It does suck, since I was interested in the Giants cap he has up, but what can you do.

Anyway, the Phillies cap is definitely misidentified, and at some point, the Diamond Collection flag was removed from the cap. You can see where the stitching was undone on the side opposite the sizing tag.

Did you message the seller? If so please post his reply.

His reply to the Phillies cap was:

"Feel free to call me at XXX-XXX-XXXX would love to discuss it with you

    Sent from AOL Mobile Mail"

I removed his number, since I'm not sure he'd want that publicly released.

    In response to:

"Why are you representing a late-80s/early-90s (New Era tag from that period) as a 1977 cap? You can even see where the Diamond Collection and/or Genuine Merchandise tag was removed."

Also, I asked about his 1977 Jays cap (since the title says it's from the Jays first season):

I just wanted to know how he was able to pinpoint the cap to 1977, since the Jays used that cap style until 1979/1980, when they switched to the grey under bill. He replied:

"Read description..says circa 1977...what exactly do you want from me? so if need be go ahead and rip me on gameuseduniverse. Feel free to read my feedback

    Sent from AOL Mobile Mail"

So did you call to further discuss it with him? What did he say?

I messaged him back that I saw no reason to call and discuss it, since it is what it is. The cap is clearly a decade newer than what he identified it as. Ryan, would you care to explain how a cap manufactured in the late-80s/early-90s would have been used during the 1977 season?

No, as I am no expert on vintage hats. I was more interested in hearing this questionable sellers reasoning than anything.

I agree as well. The guy has some cool items once in awhile. He just sucks at doing his homework. He buys all these items at sports auctions, lists them on eBay and does little to no research. Very missleading auctions in my opinion.

I text messaged him, and he wrote "Are you sure?" to which I replied 100%, and he ended the listing. I don't get it. Why would he need someone to message him by phone instead of eBay's system?
