Re: Players using others players bats or other equipment

Anyone else notice that Ellsbury was using a 2-tone brown/tan bat with Pedroia's #15 on the knob on Sunday's TBS-broadcast game? I am thankful for HD, but I have never seen Pedroia use a 2-tone bat, and did not get a look at he label to identify it. X-bat?

On another note, is that a Diablo Manny has been using this year? Either The Odd Bat Fairy must have visited the red sox, or they ran out of sticks on the 2 week 3 country road trip.

        Matt,

Manny has been using a Diablo with a red barrel during spring training and a black SSK bat which he picked up when the Red Sox were in Japan.

Re: Players using others players bats or other equipment

There are a lot of players the commonly use other players/teamates equipment.

As I pointed out on this forum in another thread many players from the Yankees at some point or another have used Posadas bats.
Alex Rodriguez was known for using Posadas bats & Wristbands during his slump
Orlando El Duke Hernandez told me himself that he used Posadas bats
            Tino Martinez Used Posadas bats
Shane Spencer told me he would used Posadas bats
            Enrique Wilson Used Posadas bats
Alex Rodriguez has been known to use Jeter bats

Tino Martinez and Luis Sojo would constantly use each others bats

Vlad Guerrerro if I remember correctly was being handed David Ortiz bats by Ortiz for the 2006 or 2007 All Star game Home Run Derby

David Wells while with the Yankees used Ricky Ledees bats

Johnny Damon has used Giambis bats

Jason Giamibi has used Bubba Crosby bats

Enrique Wilson also while with the Yankees would basically use any bat he could get his hand on

I remember there was a photomatch one time on this forum of Pujols using a Tino Martinez bat

When Bobby Abreu first came to the Yankees he hadn't recived his bats yet so for his first week or so at bats he used Posadas bats

Jose Molina of the Yankees used Miguel Cairos bats

                V. Guerrero using a Glaus Bat, or at least holding it. I`ve seen him using lots of other players Bats, including O. Cabreras.

I purchased this bat from Jim Tucker. Jim and his wife have worked and boarded several Angels over the years. In 1999, Ramon Ortiz lived with the Tuckers and gave this bat to Jim. Todd Greene left the Angels after the 1998 season. A box of Todd Greene's bats were left behind and Troy Glaus (#25 in 1999) took these bats to use during batting practice in 1999.

During the Braves-Reds game yesterday, I got a shot of Brayan Pena using Yunel Escobar's bat. They both came from Cuba and grew up together so it makes sense why they would share bats.

When Sammy Sosa hit his 600th home run last year he was using on of Kenny Lofton's Old Hickory bats. It was surprising to me that when a player was about to hit a milestone home run that he was not using his own signature bat. The day before when he was still at 599 Sosa had used one of his own Rawlings bats. Then he used Lofton's bat the next day and hit number 600. The Rangers have an exhibit in their museum of items from the 600 home run at bat and the Old Hickory with Lofton's name on the barrel looks very odd there.

ESPN made a big deal last night about the fact that Jason Giambi used a Chein Ming Wang bat against the Mariners yesterday.

The big deal that was being made was why is a guy who is batting .150 is using a guy's bat with a .000 lifetime average!!

.150 is better than .000, right?

Big Floppy could use that bat too, .216 right?

Coco Crisp using Mike Lowell M-9 bats, be sure to check the number written on the knob. I recently ran into a 2008 M-9 Lowell bat with Coco's #10 on the end of knob.
