    Augie Galan

Need some help with this one. Augie Galan with a 1950s centerbrand but no markings above or below signature? Am I reading my book incorrectly?

Hey Bill - Mike Specht may have more informaton, but since Galan retired at the end of the 1949 season - it is quite possible the bat was made in to the 50's for ceremonial purposes ( Old Timer's Game, personal use, etc. ). It is not uncommon for post playing era bats to have subtle differences in how they are produced - Augie may have requested that a batch be made with just his signature. We don't have his records so unfortunately we can't look this up for you. Jim

Galan played with Oakland in the PCL in 1950 and '51, so this is probably a minor league bat.
