    Harvey Kuenn

Any records of liberty bell stamped Harvey Kuenn bats would be appreciated, mostly curious on model and finish. I am looking at a bad picture of a bat, so I can't determine if there is a coat of pine tar, or different finish that has flaked off in some areas.

    Thanks.

    Hi Matt--

There are several documented records for Harvey Kuenn in 1976, a year in which he wore Uniform Number 32 as a coach for the Milwaukee Brewers and, unfortunately, also underwent open heart surgery. On 4/24/76 an order of four model K100 fungo bats were shipped to him. as well as one LS 43 Infield fungo and one LS 43 Outfield fungo -- a total of six bats. Also on that date he was shipped one model H29 bat, with no recorded length, weight, or finish (presumed to be natural, or regular, finish. Kuenn's last documented order in 1976 was shipped on 8/19/76 -- three model O16 bats that were 35 inches in length, 33 ounces in weight, and presumed to be natural, or regular, finish.

For the record, Kuenn's first order of H & B bats was for Model G7 -- 7/28//52. During his playing career he most frequently ordered model O16 (35 inch / 32-34 oz), which he began ordering in 1954. Prior to that time, 35-inch model S5 bats were favored.
