    Gene tenace

I recently purchased my first two game used bats. I am curious if someone can tell me what season they were used. The first is a Gene Tenace model number C279 wieght 33 oz length 34 inches. The second is a Gene Tenace model R161 wieght 31 oz lenth 34 inches.

    Thanks very much

    Re: Gene tenace

Hi Pete--- Re the Gene Tenace bats --- the C279 as described is specific to 1982 (regular finish). It is eligible for certification as outlined in this link:

The R161 you mention is likely to be 34.5 inches, not 34 inches ------always measure a bat with the knob end against a flat surface. If it is, in fact, 34.5 or 34.25 inches with a regular natural finish, it is also specific to 1982 and eligible for certification as well. In 1982 the centerbrand should measure out to 4 1/2 inches side-to-side.

For labeling information check out Jeff Scott's very informative site at www.birdbats.com

    Good Luck.

      Mike and Pete,

      I believe Tenace had an order for 12 R161 bats on 1/16/81 -- 34 inches, 31 ounces.
