Bob Grich 1977-79 J54

Just want to know if there are record of Grich using this model, I have a 1977-79 LS Bob Grich signature Model J54 bat.

A review of Grich's personal H & B records does not document his use of model J54 either during the 1977-79 label period, or at any time during his carer. Between 3/11/77 and 8/6/79, Grich's orders of the following models are documented: B267, B278, D143, R43C, R133, and S100.

Yes I won the bat, and Mike what do you make of the bat? How can you tell a 77-79 bat is a show bat? There is one weird thing about the model J54, the four looks different size and a little off set from the 5.

probably a team index bat

Here is another point to consider... of Grich's documented orders during the period, one model, D143, also had a flared knob like the J54. That increases the possibility that Grich may have used this bat that is, nonetheless, undocumented in his records. Do sme research and see if you can come up with a photo of him holding / using a bat with his number seen on the knob, and compare the number to the bat you won. For the price you paid, the purchase was reasonable even as a Grich signature professional model that is undocumented in his records.
