    Matty Alou - 1960s U1 records

I'm looking for some specifics in regards to the bats that Matty Alou ordered through the 1960s with regards to model U1.

A review of Matty's ordering records from 10/18/1957 to 1974 documents his first order of H & B model U1 bats coming on 9/9/1964 (34.5 inches / 30-31 ounces / 6 bats.) Although two random orders are documented in April 1965 and Jan 1966, his real use of the U1 occurred between March 1966 and the end of his career -- during that period the U1 accounted for approximately 90 % of his orders. His "characteristic" U1 during that period was 36 inches and between 35 and 38 ounces ---Virtually all of his U1's had a natural (regular) finish, and had the weights marked on the knob at the time of shipping. Total number of U1 bats ordered by Matty Alou during his career is approximately 600 (plus or minus 10 %.) He was a contract H & B player for virtually his entire career --- only 14 bats (1957-1958) were produced with his name in block letters, and his first signature model bat (S23) was sent on 12/3/1958.
