The description for the Jeter 180:

You are bidding on an actual:

"Derek Jeter Game Issued Blonde Louiville Slugger Blonde Limited "Grand Slam" Addition Person Model Bat."

A leader on the field and captain of the Bronx Bombers, Derek Jeter is the franchise player the Yankees organization expected him to become. Jeter won Rookie of the Year honors in 1996 and the 2000 season was his breakout year, as he collected the All-Star MVP and World Series MVP Awards. To date, he's led the Yankees to four World Series Championships and has continually amazed fans with his timely hitting, amazing catches and throws, as well as his infectious love of the game. He crossed the 2,000-hit plateau in 2006 and as of 2007 was at 2,200 hits and counting.

This bat was issued to Derek Jeter after his first grand slam! Please note that no one has access to these bats but Jeter! Not only it's limited but there aren't many blonde bats in the market (I've only seen the black one's.)

Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Steiner Collectibles.

Steiner Holograms are affixed to both the bat & the LOA.

Issued after his first grand slam? That's creative. Steiner needs to explain this one.

Because the STEINER COA covers the bat as GAME ISSUED...it was sold by Steiner as such, and the new seller is selling it based on that info.

just wanted to note that on the fielder bat, it seems that the bat is both a model k100 and a c271. seems to be a very unique 2-model bat. as well, cecil has apparently misspelled his last name as "feilder".

even i mispell my own name sometimes.

I was wondering if the photo distorted it. But yes, that thought did occur to me. I have an email into Steiner - we'll see.

yes howard, it certainly does. it seems the only plausible explanation is that towards the end of his career the hits just weren't coming for cecil so he tried using a fungo at the plate.

it seems the "C271" designator has been handwritten in marker rather than LVS's usual process of burning it in.

I understand what your saying but again understand that Steiner is selling by what is told to them by the Yankees themselves. Also they did point out on it that it has "Grand Slam" on the bat so its not like they were trying to hide anything Also they did not come up with the story of Jeters Grand Slam.

I also spoke to the seller as I have dealt with him before and made him aware of what he really was selling and he took the auction down

I agree with most of that Suave - but the issue is that the COA says Game Issued. Steiner has a great reputation, but lately I have seen some strange things coming through that facility. Listing a $20 store model bat as game issued is not acceptable - especially for a high end memorabilia company like Steiner.

The Yankees might have been responsible, but it is up to Steiner to do a little research on an item - especially a JETER item before putting their stamp on it. A rookie collector could have bought that item based on the reputable name of Steiner and discovered later on that he had a $20 store model bat that he paid $400 for.

About the seller making up the Grand Slam story - that is just irresponsible on his part - sorry. Regardless of what he might have been told, the COA said nothing about the bat being given to Jeter after a grand slam...so, in all actuality, it was a lie.

I agree with everything your saying, I don't know for sure where the seller got that Jeter story from but I cannot say he made it up as he didnt tell me that.

the seller mentions that their cecil "feilder" fungo "retails for $400.00 on Steiner's website & they're SOLD OUT!"

steiner currently has a similar blonde LVS k100 game-used fungo on their site for $200:

i suppose the sellers bat went from being a fungo to a cecil fielder gamer when someone took a sharpie and wrote "daddy cecil feilder" and "c271" next to the model number. given that the steiner letter makes no mention of it being a c271 or any mention of an autograph, i have to wonder if the steiner letter didn't originally come with that fungo. as well, i wonder who wrote on the fungo.

the seller also mentions that his knoblauch gamer with underlined 125 and no model number "retails for $700.00 on Steiner's website & they're SOLD OUT!". steiner currently has "5 or less" 2-tone knoblauch bats with underlined 125s and no model number:

retail price: $100. steiner calls them "game issued".

                            rudy.

I do not know how somebody got that bat-but I bet if you trace where it came from it did not come from us. If you look at where the sticker has been placedwe have never ever put the hologram there. 99% of the time it is put on the end of the bat. I apologize to all that our holo/coa is attached to this horrible item and we will do a better job not letting coa's slip out the back door or fall for the I lost my coa routine could you please replace it.
