Early 80's pistons jerseys

Both of these 1980 pistons jersey look very different. Any early 80's basketball experts have an opinion?

That style shirt was worn for what I have researched four years. I think that the pistons changed from a poly-knit fabrication, like the one seen on ebay, to the more popular sand knit mesh worn for the latter part of the decade...

The knit one's were cut really short opposed to the sand knit shirts which were much longer, and a secondary tag as well...
