Did anyone ever come to any conclusion on whether or not this was actually a jersey that Long wore in a game?

You are of course correct my good man, Jim Youngblood it was. Thanks for the correction. great link Eric, I had no idea there were that many players...what a unique area it would be to collect FNOB jerseys! I have already learned a lot from this thread, neat stuff.

Taveggia & Brusati of San Rafael, CA was a distributor of Raiders jerseys in the mid to late 80s. I owned a couple at one time.

Our friends at UniWatch have chronicled the FNOB (Full Name On Back) phenomenon

As far as I could tell, no mention of Howie Long

According to the Raiders alltime roster, Howie Long is the only regular season player with the last name Long.

That said, it doesn't mean that there couldn't have been another H. Long in preseason

Usually if there are multiple players on the roster with the same last name the go with first initials. I'd be interested to hear any variations/deviations from that.
I think Ricky Williams in his rookie year had the full name.

The NFL rule is/was that if two players have the same last name, they both have to have the first initial on their. If multiple players have the same last name and the first initial, then the first two letters of the first name have to be on there. If the first two letters of the first name are the same, both have to have the full first and last name.

Lelands has this jersey and I am interested in it BUT the nameplate is my question. I have searched everything I can find including watching some old NFL films but cannot find Howie wearing this style. Has anyone ever seen him wearing this type namplate or have any photos. Any help would be reatly appreciated, Chris
