Several collectors have asked my opinion abou thte 1989 home Schmidt jersey currently in the American Memorabilia auction:
I have owned dozen of 1989 Phillies home and road game worn jerseys, and have never had a single jersey that was void of the players' last name being stitched on a small piece of materail and placed to the right of the Rawlings tag in the collar. This offered Schmidt jersey is the first time I have ever seen this.
Could the jersey have been worn by Schmidt? Who knows. I do know, however, that I have seen other game worn 1989 Schmidt jerseys, all with his name in the collar.
For my money, I would pass on this, and wait to buy a Schmidt jersey that has "complete" tagging.
