While I do believe this is a nice Mac Gamer, it`s not a conclusive Photo-match by any means.

On the Actual Bat, the 2 Black stripes are on the Right Barrel side, as in below the barrel stamping. The Getty Pics show several Black Marks on the LEFT Barrel side, above the "Big stick" where normal right handed hitting occurs.

How/why did the bidding on this bat go from $1300 down to $1035?
      cancelled bids, retracted bids?

      Thanks

Ive already emailed the seller and got no response about him to cancel my bid since he emailed me about some issues he had with the bat...Im the high bidder.... But after finally getting to review the pitchers i tried to retract my bid and put in a lower amount for my max bid but it wont allow me to since its in the final day of bidding..... Its really hard to prove that shill bidding is going on,But thats what I think.... The only thing that i'm happy about is the seller and I have been in communication and he will honor me a refund if im unhappy with the bat...... I can tell you if im the high bidder I will be returning the bat for a refund.....

            Carlie,
As I have recieved all of your other emails, and nothing about retracting your bids, I don't appreciate being accused of shill bidding...

The bidder who was winning was panthrotc, he retracted his bid... he had emailed me and I sent him the same pictures I sent you along with the similarities and dis-similarities I saw in the bat and the picture...

I have been extremely forthright with everyone who has emailed me...

I don't appreciate being made out to be the bad guy

Although I never met you in person I don't think your a bad guy. As for the shill bidding comment, that's my opinion at thd time when i found out i was high bidder and it wasn't called for so im sorry and I apologize to you. Thanks

Re: 1999 Mark Mcgwire Bat Ebay Auction

It's almost certain this bat isn't the same one in the photo because this bat is from batch #743. A bat with a batch number that high likely didn't exist on May 20; it probably was turned later in the year. In fact, on August 5, Mac hit his 500th HR using a bat from batch #382. While there's no "rule" that says players have to use bats in the order they were made, it's logical to assume Mac would not have used a bat from batch #743 more than two months before using one from batch #382. Given the information at hand, it wouldn't shock me to learn this bat was ordered and made in the fall/winter of 1999 for use in spring training 2000.
