currently listed on ebay is a helmet said to have been worn by the rams' mike jones during super bowl 34 (rams vs titans). mike jones dramatically stopped tennessee's kevin dyson at the 1 yard line as time expired - "the tackle" cemented the rams' super bowl victory.
interestingly this very helmet sold at american memorabilia in feb of this year for around $500 before fees - but when listed at american absolutely no super bowl claims were made. not the case with the ebay listing. not only does the ebay ad state jones wore the helmet in super bowl, but it also makes claims about the helmet's provenance.
further, the helmet has been altered during the time between the american auction and the ebay auction. to top things off, it's clear this helmet was not worn by jones in the super bowl despite the claims in the ebay ad.

alterations - ebay listing on left, american memorabilia listing on right. first note the small decal below the warning label that can be seen in the american photo - it's gone in the ebay photo but remnants appear evident. second look at the interior "jones" decals visible in the ebay photo. although a very dark photo, it does not appear that these decals are present in the american photo.
and, finally, compare the ebay helmet to photos of jones playing in the super bowl. first, jones's helmet was fitted with two lower chinstrap snaps - the ebay helmet only has one. second, it's very evident that the chinstap and the way it was mounted are not the same.
