Is this a 1996-97 labeling or what year is this from?

1991 through 1997. Note the position of the "I" in "Louisville Slugger" in relation to the "125" above. It is in between the 2 and 5 the 125. Starting 1998 they have the "I" in between the 1 and 2 of the 125.

True, I was just letting him know that the style of bat is 1991 through 1997...

nice pick up on the Ripken commemorative bat BTW....
