i don't ever remember the white sox wearing nobs on their BP jerseys during the 90s.


can anyone find a single photo of any white sox during the early-mid 90s wearing a BP jersey with a nob?

the description notes that "the only repair or alteration being a vintage team nameplate change." maybe not so much a "change" as an "addition"?

Has it ever been proven that the White Sox wore Wilson bp jerseys? This is the second Wilson White Sox Bo Jackson bp jersey I have seen for sale but can not find any photos of the Sox wearing Wilson, only Rawlings and Russell.

It says it's a spring training jersey but in any case, it's missing what I'm assuming is the name of the company that made the jersey on the right sleeve. I'd be cautious with this. For all we know, it could be an Olmedo Saenz jersey from 1994 with a Jackson name plate.

some good points so far. i only brought up the nob issue because it was the most cut-and-dry. of course, there's the issue of whether the manufacturer is even correct, and beyond that whether it's even a major league jersey. it's been suggested to me that it might be a minor league shirt with a "jackson" nob (incorrectly) added.

there's also something odd with the wilson tag; there are some loose white threads on the right hand side that seem to have been popped open, and some ink markings over the tag. sometimes when a tag is mutilated by marker in such a fashion it's because the mfr sold the jersey as a reject, factory second, or overstock.



jackson played for the sox in 1991 and 1993. the auction description says the jersey is from spring training. here's a photo of him in 1993 spring training (note the sleeve logo which is likely majestic):

wilson major league jerseys never had a sleeve logo. unlike rawlings and russell, wilson never secured an "official supplier" contract with MLB so the teams that did wear wilson (sox, blue jays, braves, etc) did so on the sly and without any sleeve logo.

the auction jersey has the 3-color Sox logo which didn't exist in 1991. in 1991 and 1992, they used the 2-color Sox logo. the jersey cannot be from 1991 then. bo didn't play in 1992. that only leaves 1993. below is an image showing the 3-color and 2-color Sox logos as well as 2 images from 1991 showing the Sox wearing 2-color logos on their BP shirts. (i'm aware that thomas is wearing the black alt. jersey and not a BP shirt. however, in that photo johnson and raines are wearing BP shirts. interestingly enough, raines has the comisky patch on his BP shirt and johnson doesn't).

how can you tell?



in 1992, rawlings lost their MLB contract to russell. despite that, there were a few teams who continued to be supplied by rawlings. however, those teams weren't permitted to have the rawlings logo displayed on their sleeve. so while rawlings game jerseys from 1992+ did not have sleeve logos, you're saying their BP jerseys did?

here are a couple of 1994 baseball cards (the assumption being they're showing pics from 1993). to my eye, it looks like the majestic logo:



anyway, as you go through images of white sox BP shirts, in action, from 1991-1993, there no nobs present regardless of the manufacturer.

The area where the thread affixing the Wilson tag looks possibly tampered with would be a possible area where the alpha year/month tag could be located. This raises the possibility that this could be a later-issued minor league BP with the year code removed. I only say "could", because I don't know if the minor league teams switched from 2 to 3 layer SOX logos on the same timetable as the parent club did.
