You could say the same about Ebay. The sad fact is the general public does not care because they are luxury items and people do not feel sorry for people who spend 100s and 1000s on such when they are scrambling to even find work or pay their bills. The government has gone after many fake autograph sellers but there is not enough resources to go after them all and it would be a hard case to prove as Coaches Corner is not forgering the autographs themselves and can just say we relied on our "authenticators" and we cannot be blamed if they turn out to be inept.

The ball sold for a good price in my opinion, and I seriously doubt it would have done better anywhere else.

      ------------------------------------------------------------

"Also if you had a baseball like this and it was totally legit why consign it to Coaches Corner an auction house with a terrible reputation? I am sure Hunt, Hertiage or any other auction house would jump through hoops to get an authentic Babe and Lou baseball into their auction. This point is further beared out by the low winning bid. Coaches Corner like most auction houses charges a 20% fee to the cosignor so this person netted less than eight grand for a ball that if real would easily bring in over 20."

I also agree the price seems about right for that ball.

        Definitely not a $20k ball.

Well, the auction ended at 15525.00 (13500 + 2025 BF).

Pretty dang good price for CC, or anywhere else.

The seller will receive 10800.00 and CC will receive 4725.00.

Re: Anyone bought anything from Coaches Corner?

I will admit I bought 2 things from them before I was aware so many problems were exposed.

I got a Flutie signed BC mini-helmet (which I have compared to the many Flutie-signed items already in my possession) and it holds up well in comparison.

Also, a 2004 Red Sox team-signed WS ball with 24 auto's, and again, I have bunches of authentic sigs I got myself from these players over the years so I would have a hard time believing the ones on this ball could be bad. There is always room for fraud since I didn't witness the auto's put to leather, but what do you all think the chances are that some or all of these sigs could be faked? The auto's, again, seem dead on. Single-signed would give me pause.

                Thanks for any input!

I was just reading through this thread, and noticed "Banned" under this guys name. I thought everyone in the collecting world knew what kind of an outfit Coaches Corner was.

Does this board ban members for posting their opinions if they are off base? Can anyone tell me what happened here? I'm kinda new here, and I don't want to wiped off the forum for posting an opinion, even if I'm wrong.

                      Buster,

The tjm banning was the result of he and another member getting into it to the point they stepped over the line of TOS, so to speak. No sense rehashing the reasons why.

Not trying to be an a$$ but things like the "dropping trou" comment are examples of what to avoid doing on this particular forum.

Thank you for the good advice which I will take to heart, and for clarifying the facts about the other member. I was off base in what I assumed.

And I got it too on the bad sense of humor. I thought I posted a funny, and on second thought, it probably was a bit tasteless. I meant it in a light hearted way, but I don't ever want to appear unfriendly!! Thanks again for the explanations.

They very well may be real. Like any auction house CC takes items on consignment and if people consign a legit item to them they will sell it. They had alot of ads in SCD so people looking to sell stuff probably have seen them and just cosigned stuff to them without knowing their reputation. Noone has said every single item CC sells is questionable or not real they have so many auctions with so many items in them if even 5%- 10% were unquestionably real that would still be alot of legitmate items they have sold. Alot of people, myself included, just do not like to deal with them because of they sell so much that is questionable or worse to make a buck.

Thank you for that legaleagle, I am hitting the "deal" button and not planning to do any more bidding there.
