    Albert Belle Game Used Jersey 1997

    A little late since the auction is over ... but did this seller have another item that was questionable ? Like way off ? I think it was a Will Clark Jersey.

    What are the opinions on this Belle. I though the tagging had the set , size and the year. Or is this 1997 tagging correct ?

    Any other thoughts ?

          just at first glance the lack of "wear" on the 1997 tag on the front.

              Most, if not all, the Belle jerseys from 1997 had just the year 1997 on the tag. Belle was signed in November which should have given the team more than enough time to order his jerseys with the correct 1997 tags, but I can't remember ever seeing a properly tagged Belle jersey from 1997. I suspect Belle marketed his own jerseys since they pop up frequently in the hobby.

              I also wouldn't want one of the biggest a-holes in sports in my collection unless that was the theme I was shooting for.

                  Ballhawk Dave, your hunches are justified. Joe's detailing of what a Sox tag should look like are dead on. At best, this was an extrta jersey made into a Belle. The seller was, indeed the one with the bad Will Clark a few week ago as well as a bad Hideo Nomo that Dave Grob of MEARS basically threw back in my face when I tried to alert them on it via their bulletin board. Finally, Belle should be a 50...a 48 is unlikely to have been worn by him.
