1968 Brooks Robinson Jersey - Mile High

Does anyone have knowledge of the Orioles wearing vest style jerseys in 1968. Here is the link to the Mile High Auction. http://www.milehighcardco.com/LotDet...00&category=10 Also, appears to be a very different Wilson label than what is typically seen. Thanks.

According to Dressed to the Nines they did wear vest style jerseys in '68. Click on link and click on 1968 on the left side of page.

The tags are inconsistent with Wilson flannels of the era. The Wilson tag is rarely found on gamers, and the year/set strip tag is in a font and material that says FORGERY loud and clear. Avoid this one.

In my opinion, this jersey has several questionable characteristics. First, while the Okkonen book lists the vest as 1968, they were actually from 1969, and as far as I can determine, used only in 1969. For 1969 Orioles jerseys & vests, the year should be over the set designation not beside it, and for 1968s, it should either be “68-set 1” or “1968-1”( not 68-1). The trim around the neck is to circular,it should be more of a “V” at the bottom. While it is hard to do a true comparison, it appears that the Orioles name is larger than it should be(e.g.the "O" almost touches the button below, whereas all other 68 & 69 homes have a considerable space between the "O" and the button below). It also appears that the NOB is thicker and larger than it should be. Finally, I believe Brooks wore size 42 with the exception of the Spaulding knits of 71 & 72 and possibly 1977. In addition, I have been informed by a long time collector friend that several years ago there was a guy from California that was selling Brooks Robinson vest(s?) in an SCD ad claiming they were salesman's samples. I don't have a picture of those to compare with the one in this auction. I collect Orioles jerseys (see parkwaypastimes.com) but I would not bid on this jersey.
