    In my opinion, there's no way that this amount of damage would occur to the football during game play. Even if it was used in the game, much wear and damage has occurred after the fact.

      I am no expert, but what the heck happened to that ball? The laces are damaged? Did they use it in the parking lot?

        I wish we could read the date code on the ball. I'll bet it was manufactured after date of the game.

          I'm willing to bet it was a game ball that was used afterwards for another purpose. I have seen the X on authentic balls before.

            I think you're right. I seem to remember that back in the day, SB footballs were sent to the Pro-Bowl and an "X" was placed on one of the panels. As for the offered football - who knows. Looks way too beat-up.
