2001 Bonds SAM Bat on ebay

If you look at the photos of this Bonds Sam Bat, you'll see that the weight in the cup is underlined:

I asked Sam (the one who founded the company) about this bat in particular, and he said that they would put that line only for trophy bats, to signify that the bat didn't actually weigh the amount listed.

Also, the tape on the handle isn't similar to what Bonds was doing by that time (Oct 2001 as the bat's production date). It usually went all the way around the knob.

I'd stay away.

I have seen a bunch of fake same bats on ebay in the last couple years. This is a complete fake.

I contacted the seller and he said "thanks for letting me know"

However he chooses to continue the auction.

On this same issue, another common way to tell a SAM "trophy" bat is if the cup says "TY" or "TYS", which (naturally) is short for "trophy"....

I also contacted the seller and mentioned the underline, but he said he had bat experts look at it and say it was ok. Assuming that's not a complete lie, then obviously I'd still trust the owner of the bat company over "some guy."
