Lelands has a deflategate ball for auction

Will be interesting to see how much it goes for, or if it goes at all with a 25k opening bid!

Lelands seems to think the ball has six figure potential, but I seriously doubt that. Deflate gate is not that crazy among sports fans. Personally the only thing helping this ball is the fact it happened so recently. Maybe that causes some added interest. Still $25k is a really really steep price.

The ball has great provenance as being used in the AFC title game and being a Patriots ball. Thats all I see in it. Theres no way of knowing if it was deflated or not.

$44k? Great buy whoever got that deal. Re-sell it in 10 years and enjoy the Big Mac and coke purchased with the proceeds.

I wonder if you can claim something like depreciation on your taxes so in 10 years when he sells it for $10,000 he can get a $34,000 tax credit.

That would be worth looking into for the buyer I would think. I may be dead wrong, but I just can't see this as being anywhere near a five figure piece.

I am not giving tax advice nor m I qualified to do so

That being said, if you collect as an investment, and you have accurate records and sell something at a loss , it is a capital loss on your taxes

USA Today Sports reports the final bid at $43,740. There were 5 bids placed.
