1981 Dennis Eckersley Boston Red Sox Game Worn Road Jersey

Dennis Eckersley, nicknamed "Eck," was elected to Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004 (his first year of eligibility). He enjoyed success as a starter, but he gained his fame as a closer, becoming the first of only two pitchers in Major League history to have both a 20-win season and a 50-save season in a career. He is a six time All Star, and he was the American League's Cy Young Award winner and the American League's Most Valuable Player in 1992, a season in which he posted 51 saves. Only two relievers had previously accomplished the double feat: Rollie Fingers in 1981 and Willie Hernandez in 1984.
This road gray Boston Red Sox jersey was worn by Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley during the 1981 baseball season. Tagged in the collar with a Wilson size 42 wash tag and on the tail with a chain-stitched "81" swatch tag. Jersey is all original and shows good evidence of game use (primarily in the form of wash wear, yellowing in the collar area, some staining). All original 1980's Hall of Fame knits are drying up FAST!
