2005 Jeff Francoeur Atlanta Braves Game Worn Road Jersey (Team LOA)

Francoeur was selected by the Braves in the 1st round of the June 2002 free agent draft. Francoeur advanced steadily through the Braves minor league system playing for Danville (Rookie) in 2002, Rome (Low A) in 2003, Myrtle Beach (High A) and Greenville (former AA) in 2004, and Mississippi (AA) in 2005. Francoeur was promoted to Atlanta on July 6, 2005. He was part of the group of rookie players nicknamed the "Baby Braves" that Atlanta called up from its minor league system during the 2005 season. Francoeur finished the 2005 season batting .300 in 67 games. Francoeur also tallied 14 home runs and 44 RBIs. During his rookie season he garnered a reputation as a free swinging fastball hitter, with his first walk not coming until his 128th plate appearance. On defense, Francoeur is known for having a strong, accurate arm. In 2005 he led all major league right fielders in assists, with 13. He has also become a hometown favorite among Braves fans.
This road gray Atlanta Braves jersey was worn by Jeff Francoeur during the 2005 baseball season. Tagged on the tail with a Majestic tag and a "48 05 S1" strip tag. This jersey is also tagged on the inside with a pro-coded "0062" flag tag. This jersey exhibits light evidence of game use, primarily in the form of wash wear (some puckering to the back numbers, loose stitching). Purchased directly from the Atlanta Braves. Comes with a letter from the Braves. Great gamer worn during Francoeur's rookie campaign.

      Hello,

Thanks for your inquiry on the Francoeur jersey. This jersey came with the standard Braves COA that they issued prior to 2007 with just about everything that came out of their team store (with everything from common caps to superstar jerseys). It's a very generic certificate style document. I will scan it later tonight and try to get it posted ASAP.

Here is a scan of the COA for the Francoeur jersey. As mentioned in the description, this jersey was part of a larger team purchase. This generic style COA was the standard for the Braves at the time. Obviously the word "COPY" does not appear on the original. If you have other questions, let us know.

I see the description reads light use with puckering of back number & loose stictching. Is there any puckering of the front logo? Where exactly is the loose stiching? Around the letters on the nameplate? What distinguishes this from a game-issued jersey that has been washed a few times, other than the generic letter from the Braves?

Is there a photo available of the 0062 tag?

I'll follow up the answers to your questions with the photo of the wash tag you requested. First and foremost, it's important to note that this Francoueur jersey was purchased directly by our consignor from the Atlanta Braves. I'll describe the use as best as I can, but I'm not sure it's possible for anyone to definitively distinguish any "game used" jersey from a "game issued jersey that has been washed a few times". We deal in a hobby of probabiliities, and based on my experience, the documentation that accompanies this jersey, and it's overall use, I would feel 100% comfortable calling this a game worn Jeff Francoueur rookie jersey.

With all that said, here's my assessment on the use for your consideration: The front "Atlanta" logo exhibits some minor puckering and some loose stitching near the bottom of the tomahawk logo. There are a few loose stitches in the script portion of the "Atlanta" logo as well. The "Francoueur" nameplate on the back exhibits almost no puckering and no loose stitching. The #7 on the back exhibits moderate evidence of puckering and several loose stitches around the perimeter of the number. As you can see in the photo below, there is also some evidence of wash wear to the interior pro-coded wash tag.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

              Best,

              Rob
