1989 Ozzie Guillen Chicago White Sox Game Worn Home Jersey

Best known for his antics as the current White Sox Manager, Ozzie also had a very successful playing career. Guillén is a member of the select group of light-hitting, quick-handed shortstops that emerged from Venezuela, a group that includes Chico Carrasquel, Luis Aparicio (both White Sox players), Dave Concepción, and Omar Vizquel. As a player, he was regarded for his passion, speed, hustle, and defensive abilities and his ebullient love for the game. In 1985, Guillén received both the AL Rookie of the Year and The Sporting News Rookie of the Year awards. He was an All-Star in 1988, 1990-91, and won the Gold Glove Award in 1990. Guillén ranks among the White Sox all-time leaders in games played, hits and at-bats.
This home white Chicago White Sox jersey was worn by Ozzie Guillen during the 1989 baseball season. Tagged on the inside of the tail with a Rawlings size 40 wash tag, an embroidered "T" swatch tag and a "Set 1 1989" flag tag. Velcro closure between the second and third button behind the "White Sox" script logo. Signed in black by Guillen on the right shoulder. Jersey exhibits moderate evidence of game use, primarily in the form of wash wear (puckering to the script logo on the front, loose threads). Worn during Ozzie's playing days with the White Sox. Consigned by Rob Steinmetz.View Lot Detail page
