Fred "Crime Dog" McGriff starred for several teams from the mid-1980s until the early 2000s. A power-hitting first baseman with a tall, lanky build, the five-time All-Star became, in 1992, the first player since the dead-ball era to lead both leagues in home runs. Although he has never hit more than 37 homers in a single season, he finished his career only seven homers away from joining the exclusive 500 home run club. He won a World Series title with the Atlanta Braves in 1995.
This two-tone (natural/hickory) bat was manufactured by H & B during the period 1086-1989 when Mcgriff broke in with the Toronto Blue Jays (1986) and won his first of two home run titles (1989.) The bat measures 34½ inches in length and weighs approximately 31 ounces. There is a slight, non-displaced crack in the handle approximately 8 inches from the knob that is almost invisible and does not affect the display quality of this bat at all. Ball marks and hit marks appear below the label, and McGriff's Toronto uniform number, 19, is written on the knob in vintage marker. This bat represents an outstanding example of a rookie era bat of a fan favorite who finished his career just 7 home runs short of the 500 Home Run Club. A LOA from SCD Authentic (D. Bushing / T.
